Admiralty Navy Band Of Russia
The Admiralty Navy Band of the Leningrad Naval Base (Russian: Адмиралтейский оркестр Ленинградской военно-морской базы) is a Russian military band based in Saint Petersburg. It was founded early in the 18th century about the same time as the Russian Navy itself. The band's chief conductor and director of music is Captain 3rd rank Valentin Lyashenko, who leads the band under the instruction of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia. The band has toured Europe and performed for visiting heads of state. It has also had a number of guest conductors, both military and civilian. Leningrad Naval Base
The Leningrad Naval Base is part of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy. History The Naval base was created on the basis of Order No. 117 as of March 15, 1919 of the Baltic Sea Fleet. The Naval Forces of Petrograd were transformed by the order into the Petrograd Naval Base. The Petrograd, then the Leningrad naval base has since that time been sometimes abolished, reformed and again created. In the summer of 1919, the crews of torpedo boats and , and also the submarine under command scored the first successes ('kills') for the base, sinking the submarine and the destroyer HMS ''Vittoria'' of the British Royal Navy. Winthrop University
Winthrop University is a public university in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It was founded in 1886 by David Bancroft Johnson, who served as the superintendent of Columbia, South Carolina, schools. He received a grant from Robert Charles Winthrop, a Boston philanthropist and chair of the Peabody Education Board in Massachusetts, to establish the school. A navy, naval force, or maritime force is the branch of a nation's armed forces principally designated for naval and amphibious warfare; namely, lake-borne, riverine, littoral, or ocean-borne combat operations and related functions.
