Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi
Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (born 4 July 1954) is the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Vice Chairman of Islands Development Agency (IDA). He was an Admiral in the Indian Navy and served as the 21st Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, having assumed office on 31 August 2012. He is a specialist in anti-submarine warfare. He resigned on 26 February 2014, taking responsibility for a series of accidents, thus becoming the first Indian Navy Chief to resign. Admiral Joshi has joined the Uttarakhand War Memorial as one of its patron in May 2020. Subsequently, paying homage to brave sons/daughters of Uttarakhand in security of the nation and furthering the cause of the Uttarakhand War Memorial Trust, he has also contributed all his current and future annuities (for gallantry awards/decorations) towards the trust in July, 2020. Admiral (India)
Admiral is a four-star naval flag officer rank in the Indian Navy. It is the highest active rank in the Indian Navy. Admiral ranks above the three-star rank of vice admiral and below the five-star rank of admiral of the fleet, which has never been awarded or held. An admiral may be referred to as a full admiral or four-star admiral to distinguish them from lower flag officer ranks like vice admiral and rear admiral. The rank is held by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), the professional head of the Indian Navy, since 1968. The rank may also be held by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) if the holder is a serving Indian Navy flag officer. INS Ranvir (D54)
INS ''Ranvir'' is the fourth of the five s built for the Indian Navy. ''Ranvir'' was commissioned on 28 October 1986. Service history 2008 INS ''Ranvir'' along with were anchored just outside Sri Lankan territorial waters to provide security for the Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, and other high-ranking officials at the 15th SAARC summit. 2015 On 22–26 May 2015, INS ''Ranvir'' with visited Singapore. On 31 May - 4 June 2015, INS ''Ranvir'' with INS ''Shakti'' made a port call at Jakarta, Indonesia. She was commanded by Captain Jaswinder Singh. 2022 On 18 January 2022, there was an explosion in an internal compartment of the ship at the naval dockyard in Mumbai, resulting in three deaths and eleven injuries. Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma (born 14 November 1950) is a former senior naval officer who served as the Chief of the Naval Staff of Indian Navy, from 31 August 2009 to 31 August 2012.
