AdHouse Books
AdHouse Books was an independent comic book publisher based in Richmond, Virginia. It was founded in 2002 by graphic designer Chris Pitzer. AdHouse was known primarily as a publisher of graphic novels, beginning with 2002's '' Pulpatoon: Pilgrimage'', traditional comic book series, and art books, including James Jean's '' Process Recess''; The company announced on July 14th 2021 that it would cease publications after its 101st book. The company would then take 2022 to visit as many shows, conventions, festivals, etc., as they could. Among the reasons, Pitzer mentioned his older age, as well as "low sales on recent releases, uneasiness about the crowdfunding model, and the lack of conventions due to the COVID-19 pandemic." ''Salamander Dream'' () is an original graphic novel by Hope Larson, her first, released by AdHouse Books in 2005. The story about a young girl and a magical salamander was inspired by Larson's youth playing in nature, and it was originally released as a webcomic. Synopsis The book covers the relationship between Hailey, a young girl, and Salamander, a magical forest-dwelling being. The character Hailey lives on the edge of a small city, frequently walking with her magical friend through the forest next to her house, listening to his stories. As Hailey grows older, her interests slowly shifts away and she eventually ceases to visit the woods. Years later, Hailey visits the woods one last time and meets Salamander again. The girl shares a story with him, before bidding farewell and moving away. Scott Morse (sometimes known as C. Scott Morse or C. S. Morse) is an American animator, filmmaker, and comic book artist/writer. Much of Morse's published work consists of stand-alone graphic novels, although he is perhaps best known for his 1997 epic series '' Soulwind'', a story serialised in a sequence of graphic novels, which was nominated for both the Eisner and Ignatz awards.
