It is native to Latin America and the Caribbean, with one species extending northward into the southernmost part of Texas. ''Adelia, o La figlia dell'arciere'' (''Adelia, or The Archer's Daughter'') is an opera in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. The Italian libretto was written partly by Felice Romani (acts 1 and 2) and by (act 3), a part-time poet who had achieved notability the previous year with Otto Nicolai's ''Il templario''. The opera premiered at the Teatro Apollo, Rome on 11 February 1841. Roles Synopsis :Time: "The past" :Place: Burgundy The story features the protagonist, Adelia, the daughter of Arnoldo, one of Duke Carlo's bodyguards. The Duke returns from a successful battle to find a fellow nobleman, Count Oliviero, leaving Arnoldo's house which is on Carlo's estate. Mary Adelia Davis Treat (7 September 1830 in Trumansburg, New York – 11 April 1923 in Pembroke, New York) was a naturalist and correspondent with Charles Darwin. Treat's contributions to both botany and entomology were extensive—six species of plants and animals were named after her, including an amaryllis, ''Zephyranthes treatae'', an oak gall wasp Bellonocnema treatae and three ant species '' Aphaenogaster mariae'', '' Aphaenogaster treatae'', and Dolichoderus mariae''. Mary Diana Norman (née Narracott; 25 August 1933 – 27 January 2011) was a British author and journalist. She is best known for her historical crime fiction. Life and work Norman was born in London. She was moved to Devon by her family to escape the Blitz. Her father was a journalist, and she followed this profession until moving to the countryside to "bring up two daughters, study medieval history, and write". She also published historical mystery books under the pen name Ariana Franklin, featuring the fictional medieval pathologist Adelia Aguilar. Adélia Luzia Prado Freitas (born 13 December 1935) is a Brazilian writer and poet. Life She was born in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais (one of the landlocked states of Brazil), where she still lives. Her family were railroad laborers, and both her mother and grandmother died during childbirth. She was the first member of her family to attend university, gaining degrees in Philosophy and Religious Education from the University of Divinópolis. She taught school until 1979, and was the Cultural Liaison for the City of Divinópolis from 1983 to 1988.
