Adelhard Roidinger
Adelhard Roidinger (28 November 1941 – 22 April 2022) was an Austrian jazz musician (bass, electronic), composer and computer graphic designer. Life and Works Roidinger, who was from a musician family, learned first piano, violin and guitar. When he was 16, he started to play double bass. From 1960 to 1967, he studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology and studied simultaneously double bass and jazz composing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in this city. Since 1969, Roidinger has played double bass with Joachim Kühn and Eje Thelin and afterwards with Karl Berger and from 1971 to 1975 in Hans Kollers Free Sound. He founded the ''European Jazz Consensus'' with Alan Skidmore, Gerd Dudek and Branislav Lala Kovačev. The 'European Jazz Consensus' recorded also the albums 'Four for Slavia' and ''Memory Rise''. Windischgarsten
Windischgarsten is a municipality in the district of Kirchdorf an der Krems in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Since 1964, the town has been classified as a Luftkurort, a mountain spa town. Geography Windischgarsten lies in the Traunviertel and is surrounded by mountains: the Haller Mauern in the South, the Sengsengebirge in the North, and the Totes Gebirge in the West. George Russell (composer)
George Allen Russell (June 23, 1923 – July 27, 2009) was an American jazz pianist, composer, arranger and theorist. He is considered one of the first jazz musicians to contribute to general music theory with a theory of harmony based on jazz rather than European music, in his book ''Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization'' (1953). Early life Russell was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 23, 1923, to a white father and a black mother. He was adopted by a nurse and a chef on the B & O Railroad, Bessie and Joseph Russell. Young Russell sang in the choir of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and listened to the Kentucky Riverboat music of Fate Marable. He made his stage debut at age seven, singing "Moon Over Miami" with Fats Waller. IRCAM
IRCAM (French: ''Ircam, '', English: Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music) is a French institute dedicated to the research of music and sound, especially in the fields of avant garde and electro-acoustical art music. ECM Records
ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) is an independent record label founded by Karl Egger, Manfred Eicher and Manfred Scheffner in Munich in 1969. While ECM is best known for jazz music, the label has released a variety of recordings, and ECM's artists often refuse to acknowledge boundaries between genres. Austria3
Austria3 was a supergroup of three Austrian quite individualist singer-songwriters Wolfgang Ambros, Georg Danzer and Rainhard Fendrich. The group was initiated by Fendrich in order to give one single charity concert in favour of homeless in 1997 (which collected more than ATS 2 million, almost USD 200,000). Their success as a group was overwhelming, and the three individualists showed up on stage as ''Austria3'' from that day on, until they decided to stop that project, which they announced on 10 June 2006. Their last concert was given at Altusried, Germany, on 26 July 2006. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Melanie Bong (born 6 June 1968) is a German jazz singer. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz under Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy and Andy Bey. After the study visit in New York City, she started her own teaching activity at Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama, and Dance. She was a member of Maximilian Geller Quintet. As a member of the quintet, she released several albums and toured France with Memorial Orchestra under Bob Lanese. In 2002 she produced her debut album.
