Adelanto (Spanish for "Advance") is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Victorville, California
Victorville is a city in Victor Valley in San Bernardino County, California. Its population as of the 2020 census was 134,810. History In 1858, Aaron G. Lane came to what is now known as Victorville and founded a waystation called "Lane's Crossing." For many years it provided shelter and supplies for people journeying across the desert from the east to San Bernardino. Lane's Crossing was on the Mojave River on today's Turner Road, two miles north of where Interstate 15 crosses the river. Lane was a veteran of the Mexican–American War who had had malaria during that war. Originally he migrated west to join the California gold rush, but he learned that he could make a better living selling supplies to the miners. Lane settled in Ione, near Sutter's Mill in northern California, during those years, but migrated to San Bernardino in 1857. Adelanto High School
Adelanto High School is a comprehensive high school of the Victor Valley Union High School District, in Adelanto, California, in the Inland Empire region. The mascot of the athletic teams is the Saints. History It was the first high school to be built in Adelanto; previously students attended Silverado High School and Victor Valley High School in Victorville. By 2008 area residents wanted a local high school, and the Victorville high schools were above capacity. In November of that year, the majority of the citizens in Adelanto voted in favor of building the school, by approving a $500 million bond. The name of an area youth football league, the Saints, became the high school's mascot. The State of California funded the acquisition of the land, and the bond funded the design of the campus and its construction; the latter two had a cost of $120 million. A parent trigger is a legal maneuver through which parents can change the administration of a poorly performing public school—most notably, by transforming it into a charter school. The first parent trigger law was passed by the California legislature in January 2010. Similar laws have been adopted subsequently by Louisiana, Mississippi, Connecticut, Texas, Indiana and Ohio.
