Adelaide Street, Brisbane
Adelaide Street is a major street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It runs between and parallel to Queen Street and Ann Street. History By May 1873 there was a Primitive Methodist Church in Adelaide Street. Under the provisions of the City of Brisbane Improvement Act 1916 and the Local Authorities Act Amendment Act 1923 the Brisbane City Council contributed significantly to the 1920s building boom, with a programme of city beautification and street improvements, including the cutting down and widening of several of the principal thoroughfares. From 1923 to 1928 the Brisbane City Council implemented its most ambitious town improvement scheme to that date: the widening of Adelaide Street by along its entire length. Resumptions in Adelaide Street had commenced in the 1910s, but work on the street widening did not take place until the 1920s. Adelaide Street, Fremantle
Adelaide Street, Fremantle is a street that is a boundary for Kings Square, Fremantle in Western Australia. It goes north from Kings Square and meets Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle, Queen Victoria Street in a skewed junction that meets outside St Patrick's Basilica, Fremantle, St Patrick's Basilica. It is named after Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, Queen Adelaide, consort of William IV of the United Kingdom, William IV. The street existed since at least 1833, when it was included in a survey. At number 3 is St John's Anglican Church, Fremantle, St John's Anglican Church which dates from 1882. It has on its western side, the Film and Television Institute, and Princess May Park. Johnson Court Apartments, at number 23 Adelaide Street are one of the earlier high rise apartment buildings of Fremantle. See also Notes
