Adek Drabiński
Adek Drabiński (born 16 October 1948) is a Polish film director and screenwriter. He has been nominated for two Golden Lions and has received Gdynia Film Festival Award for Best New Director, as well as Andrzej Munk Film Award. Drabiński is a graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź's Faculty of Painting (1974) and Leon Schiller National Film School's Film and Television Direction Department (1979). Łódź, also rendered in English as Lodz, is a city in central Poland and a former industrial centre. It is the capital of Łódź Voivodeship, and is located approximately south-west of Warsaw. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. The Gdynia Film Festival (until 2011: Polish Film Festival, Polish: ''Festiwal Polskich Filmów Fabularnych w Gdyni'') is an annual film festival first held in Gdańsk (1974–1986), now held in Gdynia, Poland. It has taken place every year since 1974, except in 1982 and 1983 when Poland was under martial law. Andrzej Munk
Andrzej Munk (16 October 1921 – 20 September 1961) was a Polish film director, screen writer and documentalist. He was one of the most influential artists of the post-Stalinist period in the People's Republic of Poland. His feature films '' Man on the Tracks'' (''Człowiek na torze'', 1956), '' Eroica'' (''Heroism'', 1958), '' Bad Luck'' (''Zezowate szczęście'', 1960), and '' Passenger'' (''Pasażerka'' 1963), are considered classics of the Polish Film School developed in mid-1950s. The Academy of Fine Art in Łódź is a public university in Łódź for artists. Created in 1945, it was one of seven academies of Fine Arts in Poland. The academy was renamed in honor of one of its founders, Władysław Strzemiński, in 1988.
