The Addelita Cancryn Junior High School Ground was a cricket ground located in Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the United States Virgin Islands. The ground belongs to the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. History The first recorded cricket match played on the ground saw a United States Virgin Islands President's XI play a friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago in 1992. The United States Virgin Islands cricket team is first recorded as playing there in 1993 against Anguilla in the 1993 Leeward Islands One-Day Championship. First-class cricket was first played in 2003 when the Leeward Islands cricket team played Trinidad and Tobago in the 2002/03 Carib Beer Cup. Charlotte Amalie ( ), located on St. Thomas, is the capital and the largest city of the United States Virgin Islands. It was founded in 1666 as Taphus (meaning 'beer house' or 'beer hall' in Danish). The Regional Four Day Competition, formerly known as Shell Shield and Carib Beer Cup, is the First Class Cricket, first-class cricket competition in the West Indian cricket team, West Indies. It is administered by the Cricket West Indies. In the 2013-2014 season the winner of the tournament was awarded the WICB President's Trophy while the winners of the knockout competition were awarded the George Headley/Everton Weekes trophy. Daren Julius Garvey Sammy (born 20 December 1983) is a Saint Lucian cricketer who played international cricket for the West Indies. He is a two time T20 World Cup winning captain. On making his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2004, Sammy became the first person from the island of St Lucia to play international cricket. Three years later he made his Test debut against England, taking 7/66 which were the best bowling figures for a West Indian in his first Test since Alf Valentine in 1950. Sherwin Legay Campbell (born 1 November 1970) is a former Barbadian cricketer who played 52 Tests and 90 One Day Internationals for the West Indies, and also a former ODI captain for Windies. Domestic career Campbell played a total of 177 first class games between 1990–91 and 2004–05, scoring more than 10,000 first class runs with 26 centuries at an average of 37. The Barbados national cricket team is the national cricket team of Barbados, organised by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA). In cricket, a century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The term is also included in "century partnership" which occurs when two batsmen add 100 runs to the team total when they are batting together.
