Adath Israel Congregation (Toronto)
Adath Israel Congregation is a Conservative synagogue located at 37 Southbourne Avenue in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario. It is one of the largest Conservative Synagogues in Canada, with approximately 1,600 member families. Like the majority of Conservative synagogues in the Toronto area, and in contrast to most American Conservative synagogues, has not adopted egalitarianism. In 2008, the congregation seceded from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and affiliated with the Canadian Council of Conservative Synagogues. History Adath Israel was founded in 1903 by Jewish immigrants from Romania as the First Roumanian Hebrew Congregation Adath Israel. The Capital Jewish Museum, officially the Lillian & Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum, is a historical society and its planned museum in Washington, D.C., focused on the history of Jewish life in the American capital city and the surrounding Washington metropolitan area. Formerly known as the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington (JHSGW), the organization adopted a new name in 2018 as it prepared for the opening of its new museum facility, expected in 2021. The organization was founded in 1960 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1965. The Rutland Jewish Center is a non-denominational Jewish synagogue and religious community center located at 96 Grove Street in Rutland, Vermont, in the United States. The synagogue, owned by the Congregation Adath Israel, is located in the former H. H. Baxter Memorial Library building, a Richardsonian Romanesque structure that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Programs and services The Rutland Jewish Center (RJC) provides a variety of cultural and educational services to the Jewish community of the Rutland area. Temple Adath Israel (transliterated from Hebrew as "Congregation of Israel") is a Reform Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at 429 Daviess Street, in Owensboro, Kentucky, in the United States. The congregation was formed in 1858. Built in 1877, the Moorish Revival façade of the modest building features a Gothic Revival-arched door flanked by a pair of Gothic-arched windows punctuated by four pilasters. These are surmounted with molded capitals and fanciful embellishments and the whole is topped by a whimsical row of four, small, onion domed turrets. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 1986. It is among the oldest synagogue buildings in the United States. Temple Israel is a Reform synagogue in the American city of Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1854 as Adath Israel, the congregation is the largest Reform synagogue in Boston and New England. Adas Israel Congregation (Duluth, Minnesota)
Adas Israel Congregation (or Adath Israel Congregation, but known locally as the 3rd Street Shul) was a Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue located in Duluth, Minnesota, established in the late 19th century. Until its destruction by arson on September 9, 2019, it was the oldest surviving Orthodox synagogue in Duluth having outlived and incorporated several Orthodox synagogues in the Twin Ports area. By 1973, it was the only Orthodox synagogue in Duluth. It could also be described as a Jewish "traditionalist" congregation because in official communal guidelines it is officially described as "an Orthodox/high Conservative congregation" meaning that its members are composed of some Orthodox Jews as well as those who practice an older form of traditional Judaism. It is described as having a membership of 75. Services were lay-led with daily minyans, Saturday morning and holiday services.
