Adam Łapeta
Adam Łapeta (born 9 November 1987) is a Polish professional basketball player. Professional career Previously a member of the Prokom Trefl Sopot youth team, Łapeta made his career debut in 2005 on the main squad in the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played in five consecutive EuroLeague seasons with the team between 2007 and 2012, making his last season the most successful one (4.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds while shooting 55% from the field and 73% from the free throw line). He played with Zielona Góra in the EuroCup the following year. In 2013, he moved to Dzūkija Alytus of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). He became a center piece of the team, leading the league in blocks per game during his first season there (with 1.5). He was traded for Julius Jucikas to Lietuvos rytas Vilnius in early 2016. Center (basketball)
The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. In the 1950s and 1960s, George Mikan and Bill Russell were centerpieces of championship dynasties and defined early prototypical centers. Julius Jucikas
Julius Jucikas (born 20 October 1989) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. Standing at , he plays at the center position. Playing career A 19-year-old Jucikas started his career with Šilutė of the NKL in 2009. On 6 July 2015, Jucikas signed with Lietuvos rytas Vilnius of the Lithuanian Basketball League. After two seasons, for both Jucikas and the club, much of which Jucikas mostly spent on the bench, his contract for the 2017–2018 season was terminated by mutual agreement with the team. On 15 July 2017, he signed with BK Ventspils. He helped Ventspils win the Latvian championship. 2017–18 PLK Season
The 2017–18 Polish Basketball League (PLK) season, the Energa Basket Liga for sponsorship reasons, was the 84th season of the Polish Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Poland. The season started on 30 September 2017 and ended 4 June 2018. Anwil Włocławek won its second ever title in club history. Teams Polfarmex Kutno and Siarka Tarnobrzeg were relegated to the I Liga after finishing in the 15th and 16th place in the 2016–17 PLK season. Legia Warsaw promoted to the PLK 15 years later, after winning the I Liga championship. On July 28, 2017, the PLK announced it expanded the number of teams to 17 by giving a wild card to GTK Gliwice, the runner-up of the I Liga. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 12 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including European professional club basketball system, the top-tier level EuroLeague. The Polish Basketball Cup ( pl, Puchar Polski w koszykówce mężczyzn) is the annual top-tier level national domestic basketball cup competition for clubs in Poland. It is managed and organised by the Polish Basketball League (PLK). The competition was founded in 1933. Śląsk Wrocław has won the most titles, with 14 trophies. History The creation of the tournament was initiated in 1933, by the Polish Association of Sports Games (PZGS), an organisation which carried out the organisation of national sports competitions in Poland. Format Since the 2012 season, a Final Eight format is used, in which the highest placed teams from the first half of a given Polish Basketball League (PLK) regular season qualify. Lithuania Men's National Basketball Team
The Lithuania men's national basketball team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė vyrų krepšinio rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. Despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of less than 3 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe. The Lithuanian national team won the last EuroBasket tournaments prior to World War II, in 1937 and 1939. The 1939 team was led by Frank Lubin, who helped popularize basketball in the country and was called the "grandfather of Lithuanian basketball".
