''Adam and Eve'' (german: Adam und Eva) is a 1928 German silent comedy film directed by Rudolf Biebrach and starring Reinhold Schünzel, Elza Temary and Valerie Boothby. It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin and on location in the Giant Mountains. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Arthur Schwarz and Julius von Borsody. Synopsis Adam and his girlfriend Anna work as a gardener and maid in a house and are devoted to each other. However the arrival of a new maid, the vampish Klara comes between them as she makes a strong play for Adam's affections. Valerie Boothby
Valerie Boothby (born Wally Drucker, 18 October 1904 – 14 April 1982) was a German actress, painter, and writer. Biography Valerie Boothby was born Wally Drucker on 18 October 1904 in Hamburg-Mitte, Hamburg, in what was then the German Empire, although some sources list her birth year as 1906. Her father was Ernst Drucker (1856–1918), an actor and theater owner. She was the oldest of three daughters and was of German-Jewish ancestry. She made her film debut in 1926 in The Clever Fox, directed by Conrad Wiene, and went on to appear in 22 more films, mainly typecast as a vamp, before retiring in 1931. Upon the rise of the Nazis in 1933, Boothby left Berlin and settled in France. She also lived in Cairo, Egypt for 15 years before returning to Hamburg in 1970, where she died on 14 April 1982. John Loder (born William John Muir Lowe; 3 January 1898 – 26 December 1988) was established as a British film actor in Germany and Britain before migrating to the United States in 1928 for work in the new talkies. He worked in Hollywood for two periods, becoming an American citizen in 1947. After living also in Argentina, he became a naturalized British citizen in 1959. Biography Early life Loder was born in 1898 in Knightsbridge, London. His father was W. H. M. Lowe, a British career army officer who achieved the rank of general.
