Adam Wright (water Polo)
Adam Wright (born May 4, 1977) is an American water polo player and a college water polo head coach. He was a member of the United States men's national water polo team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the championship game, the USA team won the silver medal, defeated by Hungary. On June 3, 2009, Wright was named the head coach of the UCLA Bruins men's water polo team, having served as its men's and women's water polo team assistant coach. College Wright attended UCLA and played water polo for the NCAA championship team. During his years at UCLA, his team won back-to-back NCAA championships in 1999 and 2000. During his senior year, he was named as honorable mention on the All-America team and was on the All-MPSF second-team for his 39 goals on 76 attempts. The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. Anthony Lawrence Azevedo (born November 21, 1981) is a Brazilian-born American water polo player. He is a 2008 Olympic silver medalist and a five-time Olympian (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016). Azevedo ranks fourth on the all-time scoring list in Olympic history, with 61 goals. Nicknamed "The Savior" at one point, he is considered to be one of the best American water polo players in recent memory. He was the former captain of the U.S. National Men's Water Polo Team. Ricardo Azevedo (born August 24, 1956) is a Brazilian professional water polo coach. Biography Born in Brazil, Azevedo played on the Brazilian National Water Polo Team from 1974 to 1980. He was twice voted Brazil's "Player of the Year". In 1976, his team won the gold medal in the South American Games. Azevedo received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach in 1980. After his playing career, Azevedo became a water polo coach and is now considered one the premier coaches in the world.
