Adam Bruce Thomson
Adam Bruce Thomson OBE, RSA, PRSW (22 February 1885 – 4 December 1976) or ‘Adam B’ as he was often called at Edinburgh College of Art, was a painter perhaps best known for his oil and water colour landscape paintings, particularly of the Highlands and Edinburgh. He is regarded as one of the Edinburgh School of artists. Biography Thomson was born in Edinburgh and studied at the Royal Institution School of Art and the RSA Life School. He went on to study at the Edinburgh College of Art between 1908 and 1909, where he gained technical expertise in etching, drypoint and lithography and in the difficult media of pastels and watercolours. Thomson's early years at the Edinburgh College of Art, had all the rigours of life classes, study of the antique and copying the Old Masters. Sir Adam McClure Thomson (born 1 July 1955) is a former British diplomat who is director of the European Leadership Network, a pan-European think tank based in London. He served as Permanent Representative to NATO between 2014 and 2016. Adam Thomson (rugby Union)
Adam Thomson (born 23 March 1982) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He represented the New Zealand All Blacks between 2008 and 2012, playing a total of 29 tests including two during the victorious 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign. He played for the Melbourne Rebels in 2016, having also played Super Rugby with the Queensland Reds (2015) and Highlanders (2006-2012). He has also represented the Canon Eagles in Japan's Top League and New Zealand province Otago. Thomson plays mainly as a blind-side flanker (number 6). Adam Thomson (born 21 August 1986) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Port Adelaide and Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career A promising young midfielder, Thomson was taken by Port Adelaide with the 11th selection in the 2004 AFL National Draft. He played just two senior games in 2005, spending most of his time in his first two years at Port Adelaide playing for South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club, Sturt. In 2006, Thomson played the first three games of the season, but was dropped after the team's listless performance against Fremantle in round 3, although he did manage his first AFL goal during this match. Adam Lee Thompson (born 28 September 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Leyton Orient. A graduate of Watford's youth academy, he made his professional debut for Watford in 2010, and his senior international debut for Northern Ireland the following year. Chocolate Starfish is an Australian rock band formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1998. Their self-titled debut album, issued in April 1994, peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was followed in October 1995 by their second album, ''Box'', which reached No. 6. Their highest-charting single, "You're So Vain", was a cover version of Carly Simon's 1972 hit. It peaked at No. 11 on the ARIA Singles Chart in September 1993. They had another hit with "Mountain" in March 1994, which reached No. 12. The group reformed in 2010 and on 31 March 2012, guitarist Zoran Romic died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma after remission from an earlier bout. We Were Promised Jetpacks are a Scottish indie rock band originally from Edinburgh, formed in 2003. The band consists of Adam Thompson (vocals, guitar), Sean Smith (bass) and Darren Lackie (drums). Stuart McGachan (keyboards, guitar) was a member of the band from 2012 to 2015. On 2 July 2019, founding member Michael Palmer (guitar) announced that he was leaving the band.
