Grizedale Arts is a contemporary arts residency and commissioning agency sited in Grizedale Forest in the central Lake District in rural Northern England. It conducts cultural projects locally, nationally and internationally from its bases at Lawson Park farm and the Coniston Institute. Scottish Fiddling
Scottish fiddling may be distinguished from other folk fiddling styles by its particular precision of execution and energy in the delivery, for example, the rendering of the dotted-quaver/semi-quaver rhythmic patterns, commonly used in the Strathspey. Christine Martin, in her ''Traditional Scottish Fiddling'' players guide, discusses the techniques of "hack bowing", "the Scottish Snap", and "snap bowing". These techniques contrast quite sharply with the most common bowing patterns of Irish fiddling. The style has a very large repertoire consisting of a great variation of rhythms and key signatures. There is also a strong link to the playing of traditional Scottish bagpipes which is better known throughout the world. ''On Dublin Street'' is a 2012 novel by Samantha Young. Plot Jocelyn Butler, called Joss, is a 22-year-old half-American, half- Scottish woman who finished college, tries to become a writer and is the main protagonist of the series. After losing her whole family during a car accident while she was at school 8 years ago and her best friend afterwards, she decided to build a cool and tough façade in which she doesn't care for anyone and tells everyone bluntly what she feels without feeling guilty. She starts her new life by searching for an apartment to share with a roommate. She finds a free room on Dublin Street, owned by Ellie Carmichael, and pays her a visit by taxi. On her way, she is invited to a taxi ride with an attractive and seemingly intimidating man, whom she refers as 'The Suit'.
