Adam Kingsmill
Adam Kingsmill (born March 3, 2000) is a Canadians, Canadian ice sledge hockey player. He competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Para ice hockey at the 2022 Winter Paralympics, Para ice hockey, winning a silver medal. Kingsmill also won a silver medal after competing at the 2021 World Para Ice Hockey Championships. Early life Kingsmill was born on March 3, 2000, in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada. Although he was born able-bodied, he lost his right leg below the knee in a lawnmower accident when he was a toddler. Kingsmill used a prosthetic leg growing up, which allowed him to play stand-up minor hockey in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Beyond ice hockey, Kingsmill also participated in motocross racing and finished in the top five at the Pine Valley Motocross Association race in 2014. Smithers is a town in northwestern British Columbia, approximately halfway between Prince George and Prince Rupert. With a population of 5,351 in 2016, Smithers provides service coverage for most of the Bulkley Valley. History Region First Nations settlements existed thousands of years prior to European presence. Railway The planned Grand Trunk Pacific Railway (GTP) required two major divisional points in BC, where additional staff and facilities would be located. After Prince George, various central points on the Prince Rupert leg were considered in the vicinity of Aldermere. A prime choice was Hubert, east of Telkwa, initially called Bulkley by the developers, who had amassed the surrounding land. These speculators promoted a future new city, and later a trade centre of the Bulkley Valley, both fallacious claims, since Smithers had already been selected as the divisional point.
