Adam Gregg
Adam Gregg (born April 26, 1983) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 47th lieutenant governor of Iowa. He has held this position since 2019. Gregg previously served as Acting Lieutenant Governor from 2017 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Gregg served as Public Defender of Iowa from 2014 to 2017. He was the Republican candidate for Attorney General of Iowa in the November 2014 elections. Early life, education, and family Gregg was born in Hawarden, Iowa. In 2006, Gregg graduated from Central College with a B.A. in political science and history. From 2006 to 2009, he attended Drake University Law School on a full scholarship and graduated with high honors. While there, he earned the faculty's William and Ellen Cooney Hoye Award and was a junior staff member of the Drake Law Review. The 2022 Iowa gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the governor of Iowa. Incumbent Republican Governor Kim Reynolds won re-election to a second full term in a landslide, defeating Democratic nominee Deidre DeJear. First elected as lieutenant governor in 2010, Reynolds assumed the governorship on May 24, 2017, following the resignation of Governor Terry Branstad to take office as the U.S. Ambassador to China. She was elected in her own right in 2018 in what was considered a minor upset, before dramatically increasing her vote share in 2022. 2018 Iowa Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 Iowa gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018. Incumbent Republican Governor Kim Reynolds ran for election to a full term, facing Democratic businessman Fred Hubbell, Libertarian Jake Porter, and independent candidate Gary Siegwarth. On Election Day, Reynolds won 50.3% of the vote, a 2.8% margin of victory, and carried 88 of Iowa's 99 counties. She became the first female governor of Iowa elected in her own right. Brenna Bird (née Findley) is an American lawyer and politician from Iowa. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, she is the incumbant Iowa Attorney General. Bird grew up on a farm near Dexter, Iowa. She earned her bachelor's degree from Drake University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 2001. She served as counsel to Governor of Iowa, Governor Terry Branstad and became county attorney for Guthrie County, Iowa in 2018. In 2019, a jury ruled that Branstad and Bird had discriminated against an employee because of his sexual orientation, and awarded him $1.5 million.
