Adam Contessa
Adam Contessa (born 29 December 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Contessa, who played reserves level football at North Melbourne Football Club, North Melbourne, made his debut for the Western Bulldogs in 1997. After making just five appearances in two years, Contessa was delisted by the club at the end of the 1998 AFL season, only to be given a second chance when they re-drafted him. He was used in a variety of roles by coach Terry Wallace, including as a tagger, and was a semi regular member of the team in 1999. After missing the first two games of the 2000 season with a virus, Contessa played the remaining 21 games, including an elimination final. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Its original home at Arden Street continues to serve as its headquarters, training facilities and home ground for its women's side. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. The 1998 AFL season was the 102nd season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The Pascoe Vale Sports Club is an Australian rules football club 11 km north-west of Melbourne in the suburb of Pascoe Vale. The club is affiliated with the Essendon District Football League. History The club was founded in 1918 and moved to its current location at Raeburn Reserve in 1925. The Sunshine Football Club, nicknamed Kangaroos, is an Australian rules football club which compete in the Western Region Football League since 1978. They are based in the Melbourne suburb of Braybrook, Victoria, Braybrook. History Formed as the Sunshine YCW Football Club in 1959 as a junior club. They joined the "YCW National Football Association" playing its first senior game was in 1963. After winning three premierships in the YCW NFA, the club transferred to the Western Region Football League, Footscray Districts Football League in 1978.
