Kensington is a town in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,213 at the 2010 United States Census. Greater Kensington encompasses the entire 20895 ZIP code, with a population of 19,054. History The area around the Rock Creek basin where Kensington is located was primarily agricultural until 1873, when the B&O Railroad completed the Metropolitan Branch which traversed Montgomery County. A community arose where the new railroad line intersected the old Rockville-to-Bladensburg road. This early settlement was first known as Knowles Station. Sheila Giolitti
Sheila Giolitti is an American painter currently residing in Norfolk, Virginia. Giolitti's paintings are predominantly abstract works which are composed in layers that she simultaneously builds up and strips away. Giolitti is also the owner and director of Mayer Fine Art in Norfolk, VA. She is represented by Jankossen Contemporary in Basel, Switzerland and Adah Rose Gallery in the Washington, D.C., area. She has been described as "Norfolk, Virginia’s best-known fine artist." Life and work Giolitti was born in Florida, raised in Italy and she studied art at Middlesex University, London, England (BFA), 1981–83 and at Mid Warwick College, Leamington Spa, England, (1978–79) where she received a Diploma in Ceramics. Joan Belmar
Joan Belmar is an American artist (born 1970). He is a painter who uses a three dimensional technique using painting and collage processes with both painted and untreated Mylar/paper strips in circles and curvilinear shapes variations which then produced different and changes degrees of transparency, as light and the viewer move in relation to the work. He was a Washington, DC Mayor's Art Award Finalist in 2007 as an outstanding emerging artist. The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities has also awarded him with an Artist Fellowship Program grant in 2009, and in 2011 he was awarded an Individual Artist Grant by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, MD.
