Acoustic (Everything But The Girl Album)
''Acoustic'' is a compilation album by Everything but the Girl, released in North America on 2 June 1992. In the United Kingdom, the duo had released the Covers EP for Blanco y Negro, which had peaked at number 13 on the UK Singles chart dated 7 March 1992, with this release expanded into a full album for its release abroad. The albums ''Worldwide'' (1991) and ''Acoustic'' were reissued together by Edsel Records as a 2-disc set in 2012. This release also included the 1992 EP "The Only Living Boy in New York" and 1993's " I Didn't Know I Was Looking for Love". Tracklistings Some digital downloads of the album – including those sold by Amazon and iTunes – have the fully orchestrated version of "Come on Home" (3:22) from ''Baby, the Stars Shine Bright'' rather than the pared back version from ''Acoustic''. Everything But The Girl
Everything but the Girl (occasionally referred to as EBTG) are an English musical duo formed in Kingston upon Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, producer and singer Ben Watt. Everything but the Girl has received eight gold and two platinum album BPI certifications in the UK, and one gold album RIAA Certification in the US. They have had four top ten singles and twelve top forty singles in the UK. Their biggest hit song "Missing" charted high in several countries and reached number two on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1995 and spent over seven months on the UK Singles Chart thanks to an extremely popular remix by Todd Terry which later led to a Brit Award nomination for Best British Single. "Downtown Train" is a song by Tom Waits released on his album '' Rain Dogs'' in 1985. The promo video for the song was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and features boxer Jake LaMotta. Rod Stewart version British singer Rod Stewart recorded a cover version that became a number-three hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart after being released as a single in late 1989, and was also a number-one single on the album rock and adult contemporary charts. The song went to number one in Canada and made the top ten on the UK Singles Chart in 1990. Stewart received a Grammy nomination for the song in the category Best Male Pop Vocal performance. Gerry Goffin
Gerald Goffin (February 11, 1939 – June 19, 2014) was an American lyricist. Collaborating initially with his first wife, Carole King, he co-wrote many international pop hits of the early and mid-1960s, including the US No.1 hits " Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "Take Good Care of My Baby", " The Loco-Motion", and " Go Away Little Girl". It was later said of Goffin that his gift was "to find words that expressed what many young people were feeling but were unable to articulate."
