Acompli
Acompli is a discontinued mobile app that allowed for user interaction with email messages as well as management of multiple email accounts in one programme. In addition, the tool also organized one's calendar and shared files. This application provided for integration with cloud storage platforms such as Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud; it also carried support for Microsoft Exchange and Gmail. Acompli launched on 24 April 2014. The startup company, which had $7.3 million in funding, was led by CEO Javier Soltero, J.J. Zhuang ( CTO) and Kevin Henrikson (VP of Engineering). First released in April 2014 by the venture capital-backed startup of the same name, Acompli was acquired by Microsoft in December 2014. On January 29, 2015, Acompli was re-branded as Outlook Mobile—sharing its name with the Microsoft Outlook desktop personal information manager and Outlook.com email service. Kevin Henrikson
Kevin Henrikson is a San Francisco-based engineer, speaker, and investor. Henrikson has worked for or headed several companies, such as Zimbra, Alpha Brand Media and Acompli. Career Henrikson earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2000. At Zimbra, Henrikson served as the Director of Engineering and managed the development of Zimbra Advanced Client (AJAX based) and Standard Client (JSP/HTML based). Zimbra was acquired by Yahoo! in 2007 for $350 million, which later sold it to VMware. Henrikson then left Zimbra after Yahoo! acquired it and then worked for VMware before leaving to serve as an entrepreneur in residence at Redpoint Ventures. JJ Zhuang
JJ Zhuang () is a VP of Engineering at Instacart. With Kevin Henrikson as his business counterpart, he cofounded Acompli, the most broadly used email mobile and calendar client app for iPhone. Acompli was acquired by Microsoft at a price of $200 Million with less than 40 employees. Career Zhuang received a Bachelor of Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He worked at Openwave Systems Inc as a software architect from December 2000 to December 2006. He then became a software architect at Zimbra and moved along its merger with Yahoo! and VMWare. Javier Soltero is a Puerto Rican entrepreneur and executive. Previously, he was the Corporate Vice President advisor to Rajesh Jha at Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, he was co-founder and CEO of Acompli, after being an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Redpoint Ventures. Most recently, he was General Manager and Vice President of Google Workspace at Google until July 2022. Career Soltero received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 1997.
