Achomi People
Achomi ( fa, اَچُمِی), also called Khodmooni (), Lari ( fa, لآرِی), or Larestani ( fa, لآرِستَانِی), are an Iranian sub-ethnic group of Persians who inhabit primarily in southern Iran in a region historically known as Laristan. They are predominantly Sunni Muslims, with a Shia minority. Significant numbers of Achomi people have migrated to Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, and other Arab states of the Persian Gulf. The historical region of Irahistan consists of several counties in Fars Province ( Larestan, Khonj, Gerash, Lamerd) and Bastak County in Hormozgan. In Bahrain, Sunni Bahrainis of Achomi ancestry are known as Hola. In Kuwait, they are known as Kandari and Awadhi. Achomi people speak the Achomi language. Southern Iran
Southern Iran consists of the southern mountain ranges of Zagros and Central Iranian Range, Khuzestan Plain and the northern coasts of Persian Gulf and Straight of Hormuz. It includes the provinces of Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Buyer Ahmad, Hormozgan and Bushehr. Sometimes Khuzestan and Kerman are also included in this region. Lar, Iran
Lar ( fa, لار, also Romanized as Lār; also known as Larestan) is a city and capital of Larestan County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 51,961, in 12,891 families. Lar's inhabitants are Larestani people. History The city was originally called Lar after the person who had first established the city. ''Lar'' (لاڑ) is the name of one of Shahnameh's famous heroes. Hola (ethnic Group)
Huwala ( ar, الهولة, sing. Huwali هولي) also collectively referred to as Bani Huwala, is a blanket term usually used to refer to Iranian Arabs who originate from the Arabian Peninsula, initially migrating in the 13th and 14th century from Iraq and Arabia and intermixed with indigenous population of older Arabic background. Such migrations continued till around the 17th or 18th century to the area which is now the Hormozgan Province and Fars Province, mainly Bandar Abbas, Qishm and the mainland near Bandar Lengeh. The Huwala follows Sunni Islam, as opposed the majority Persian Twelver Shia and similar to Sunni Peninsular Arabs. Most of the Huwala have remigrated back to the Arabian peninsula between 1850-1900s. Irahistan ( fa, ایراهستان) or Irahestan is a historical region consisting of southern Fars Province and western Hormozgan Province in Iran. The region of Irahistan currently consists of several counties in Fars province ( Larestan, Khonj County, Gerash County, Lamerd County and Mohr County) and Bastak County, Bandar Lengeh County and Parsian County in Hormozgan. The region's importance grew during the Sassanid period with vast expansion of settlements in Irahistan. In medieval times, the region was ruled by local lords until they were removed by a Safavid invasion in 1610. In the thirteenth century, the city of Lar became a center of trade and commerce in Irahistan and the population of this city grew rapidly, outpacing the more historical towns and cities.
