Achintya Kumar Sengupta
Achintya Kumar Sengupta (born 19 September 1903 – 29 January 1976) was an Indian Bengali-language poet, story writer, novelist, biographer and editor. Life He was born in Noakhali, now in Bangladesh. At the age of 13, after his father's death, Sengupta moved to Calcutta, where he completed his schooling. He got a B. A. Honours degree from South Suburban College in English, followed by an M. A. degree from the University of Calcutta. Subsequently, he obtained a degree in Law and entered the judicial service in 1928 as a Civil Judge (Junior Division) and Assistant Magistrate Second Class. He served as a Judge in Magistrate Courts of Kolkata and District Courts of Midnapore, Dinajpore, and Kushtia. He retired as a Principal District Judge of the Alipore Court in 1961. Noakhali
Noakhali ( bn, নোয়াখালী, , New canal), historically known as Bhulua ( bn, ভুলুয়া), is a district in southeastern Bangladesh, located in the Chittagong Division. It was established as district in 1821, and officially named Noakhali in 1868. Its headquarters lie in the town of Maijdee, making Noakhali the only district of Bangladesh that isn't named after its town name. Etymology and names The name of Noakhali District comes from the town of Noakhali (নোয়াখালী), which was the former headquarters of the old district. ''Pratham Kadam Phool'' ( bn, প্রথম কদম ফুল) is a 1969 Bengali film, written and directed by Inder Sen, based on the story of the same name, by Achintya Kumar Sengupta. It stars Tanuja and Soumitra Chatterjee in the lead. The film produced by Dipangshu Kumar Deb, and edited by Arabinda Bhattacharya. Plot Sukanta meets Kakali in a library reading room and discovers his passion for her, though she rejects him initially. Pranta's wife, Sukanta's sister in law, has suspected the truth yet she does not dare to encourage the affair since Sukanta is not established. On another day, both Kakali and Sukanta become stranded in a lift of the library for long hours for want of power.
