Ignatius Kutu Acheampong
Ignatius Kutu Acheampong ( ; (23 September 1931 – 16 June 1979) was the military head of state of Ghana from 13 January 1972 to 5 July 1978, when he was deposed in a palace coup. He was executed by firing squad on 16 June 1979. Early life and education Acheampong was born to Catholic parents of Ashanti origin. He attended the Roman Catholic schools at Trabuom and the St Peter's school (also Catholic) at Kumasi, both in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He attended the then Central College of Commerce at Agona Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana. Acheampong worked as a stenographer/secretary at Timber Sawmill in Kumasi and later taught at Kumasi Commercial College, where he became Vice Principal at Agona-Swedru College of Commerce. He was commissioned in the Ghana Army in 1959, and served as a member of the UN peacekeepers during the Congo Crisis. Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong (born 19 December 1974), nicknamed "The Snow Leopard", is a Ghanaian Skiing, skier and is the first person from Ghana to take part in the Winter Olympics, which he did at the 2010 Winter Olympics Vancouver, British Columbia taking part in the Slalom skiing, slalom. Frank Opoku Acheampong (born 16 October 1993) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Chinese Super League club Shenzhen and the Ghana national team. Ernest "Owoahene" Nana Acheampong, popularly known as Nana Acheampong, is a Ghanaian Highlife musician. He is also the other half of the famous Lumba brothers who popularized Burger-highlife in Ghana (the other is Charles Kojo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba). Patrick Kwateng Acheampong (; born 25 March 1951) is a barrister and was the Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service (IGP). Education Patrick Acheampong had his secondary education at the Adisadel College between 1962 and 1969 where he obtained his GCE O-level and A-level certificates. He then entered the University of Ghana where he obtained a law degree in 1972. He next attended the Ghana Police College, qualifying with the Certificate in Police Duties in 1976.
