Achaea (constituency)
Achaea is a constituency of the Hellenic Parliament. It corresponds to Achaea Prefecture and elects eight members of parliament. The members of the prominent Papandreou politician family (Georgios Papandreou, Andreas Papandreou, George Papandreou) come from this constituency. Hellenic Parliament

Greek Legislative Election, 2009
Early parliamentary elections were held in Greece on 4 October 2009. Elections were not required until September 2011, but on 2 September 2009 Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis of New Democracy announced that he would request President Karolos Papoulias dissolve Parliament and call elections. Parliament was dissolved on 9 September. The result was a victory for the opposition PASOK party led by George Papandreou, who became the new Prime Minister. New Democracy lost 61 of its 152 seats, with its vote share dropping by over 8 percentage points. Voting was mandatory; however there are no sanctions or penalties for not voting. Andreas Katsaniotis (Greek: Ανδρέας Κατσανιώτης; born 28 November 1969) is a Greek agronomist, communication specialist and politician of the conservative New Democracy party. He is a Member of the Hellenic Parliament for Achaea and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Diaspora Greeks. Early life and education Andreas Katsaniotis was born on November 28, 1969, in Lappa of Achaea and was raised in the city of Patras. Legislative elections were held in Greece on Sunday, 20 September 2015, following Prime Minister of Greece, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' announced resignation on 20 August. At stake were all 300 seats in the Hellenic Parliament. This was a snap election, the sixth since 2007, since new elections were not due until February 2019. Greek Legislative Election, January 2015
Legislative elections were held in Greece on Sunday 25 January 2015 to elect all 300 members to the Hellenic Parliament in accordance with the constitution. The election was held earlier than scheduled due to the failure of the Greek parliament to elect a new president on 29 December 2014. Syriza won a legislative election for the first time, winning 36% of votes and 149 seats, just two short of an absolute majority. The centre-right New Democracy (ND), the outgoing party of government, saw only a small decline from 30% to 28%, but in falling to second place suffered its worst showing to date in terms of seats. Democratic Left (, , DIMAR) was a social-democratic political party in Greece. Formed as a split from Synaspismós, DIMAR was a minor party supporting the Samaras cabinet from 21 June 2012 to 21 June 2013. After being a member of the Democratic Alignment (DIMAR) and the Movement for Change (KINAL), it affiliated to Syriza in 2019. The party was dissolved in 2022.
