Ace Of Action
''Ace of Action'' is a 1926 American silent Western film directed by William Bertram and starring Hal Taliaferro, Alma Rayford and Charles Colby. Plot synopsis A feud develops between two families, the Waltons and the Darcys, regarding ownership of a valuable waterhole. John Walton believes the dispute should be settled by an outside party. Farber (Charles Colby), an attorney from back east, impersonates Walton's missing heir. Wally Rand (Hal Taliaferro), is a young cowboy and innocent bystander who falls in love with June Darcy (Alma Rayford). Wally is drawn into the feud when he is mistaken for Walton's rightful heir. Farber is exposed as an imposter and is arrested. Lafe Darcy and Farber plot to kidnap Wally, but June frees him. Wally fights with Lafe and ultimately resolves the differences and settles the feud. William Bertram (actor)
William Bertram (born William Benjamin Switzer, January 19, 1880 – May 1, 1933) was a Canadian-born actor, director, and producer of films in the United States, working predominantly during the silent era. He performed in 68 motion pictures between 1912 and 1931 and directed 64 films for various studios between 1915 and 1927. Bertram was also an accomplished singer in stage productions. Fanny Midgley (born Fanny B. Frier; November 26, 1879 – January 4, 1932) was an American film actress of Hollywood's early years, mostly in silent films. Biography Midgley was born Fanny B. Frier on November 26, 1879, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Midgley's work on stage included portraying Mopsa in the Broadway production ''The Free Lance'' (1906). Midgley's first feature film was ''Shorty Escapes Marriage'' (1914). In 1914 alone, she had 27 film appearances, including ''The Sheriff of Bisbee'', in which she starred with actress Mildred Harris, the future mother of Charlie Chaplin's first child. From 1915 through 1919, she appeared in another 32 films, mostly in supporting roles.
