Accused (1925 Film)
''Accused'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Dell Henderson and starring Marcella Daly, Eric Mayne, and Charles Delaney. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Helen, reared as the daughter of the kindly Cyrus Braidwood, discovers that her real father is the crook Lait Rodman, overwhom Braidwood holds a confession of complicity in the death of his wife. Rodman obtains possession of the incriminating document. Helen secretly enters Rodman's apartment to search for the vanished paper and encounters Steve Randall, a wealthy young bachelor. Each takes the other as being a crook. They become trapped in the thieves' underground den which becomes flooded, and they barely escape. Matters are finally adjusted and the two agree to wed. Dell Henderson
George Delbert "Dell" Henderson (July 5, 1877 – December 2, 1956) was a Canadian-American actor, director, and writer. He began his long and prolific film career in the early days of silent film. Biography Born in the Southwestern Ontario city of St. Thomas, Dell Henderson started his acting career on the stage, but appeared in his first movie '' Monday Morning in a Coney Island Police Court'' already in 1908. Henderson was a frequent associate of film pioneer D.W. Griffith since 1909 and appeared in numerous of his early shorts in Hollywood. He also acted on a less prolific basis in the movies of producer Mack Sennett and his Keystone Studios. In addition to acting, Henderson also directed nearly 200 silent films between 1911 and 1928. Most of those films are forgotten or lost, but he also directed movies with silent stars like Harry Carey and Roscoe Arbuckle. Henderson also worked as a writer on numerous screenplays. Sheldon Lewis
Sheldon Lewis (April 20, 1868 – May 7, 1958) was an American actor of the silent era best known for his antagonistic roles. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1914 and 1936. Lewis was married to actress Virginia Pearson, and they were divorced in 1928. An Associated Press news brief about the divorce said that Pearson accused Lewis of "jealousy, ill temper and abuse." However, Pearson's obituary in ''The New York Times'' said, "throughout the remaining years of their lives, they remained constant companions." The obituary indicated that the divorce was obtained because in that era marriage diminished a female film star's box-office appeal. Lewis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died in San Gabriel, California. His interment was located at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park. Spottiswoode Aitken
Frank Spottiswoode Aitken (16 April 1868 – 26 February 1933) was a Scottish-American actor of the silent era. He played Dr. Cameron in D. W. Griffith's epic drama ''The Birth of a Nation''. Early years Aitken was born 16 April 1868 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Acting In his book, ''The King of the Movies: Film Pioneer Siegmund Lubin'', Joseph P. Eckhardt wrote that Aitken was "trained as a Shakespearean actor, with many years of experience under his belt." His film debut came in 1911. He eventually appeared in 81 feature films between 1914 and 1927. Businessman Aitken was one of the first actors to settle in Los Angeles when the film industry was still at its strongest in New York. He invested most of his earnings in real estate, buying up orange groves around what would become Hollywood. Miss DuPont (born Patricia Hannon; April 28, 1894 – February 6, 1973) was an American film actress and fashion designer. Biography Sometimes credited as Patty DuPont, Miss DuPont was born as Patricia Hannon in Frankfort, Kentucky, though sources sometimes state her place of birth as Frankfort, Indiana. She appeared as a wealthy and naive American woman seduced by Erich von Stroheim's odious count in '' Foolish Wives'' (1922). Although Stroheim is credited with discovering her, she had already made several films beginning in 1919 with ''The Day She Paid''. She was the second wife of Sylvanus Stokes. They met while he was traveling in Los Angeles shortly after his 1926 divorce from his first wife, Margaret Fahnestock Stokes, and were married in January, 1928.
