Geoffrey Eastop
Geoffrey Eastop (16 January 1921 – 25 December 2014) was an English potter. Eastop was born in London, where he studied at the Croydon School of Art and Goldsmiths' College. He also studied at the Academie Ranson in Paris. During World War II, Eastop served as an officer in the Royal Artillery, seeing action in the Netherlands and being lucky to survive. After the war, he spent a year at the Odney Pottery in Cookham, Berkshire. From 1956, he collaborated with Alan Caiger-Smith during the early years of the Aldermaston Pottery (established in 1955) in the village of Aldermaston, staying there for six years. He then started his own pottery in Padworth. He remained in the same area around south Berkshire throughout his working life, finally being based near Newbury from 1985. Eastop was a potter throughout his working life and collaborated with the artist John Piper, sometimes working at Piper's family home at Fawley Bottom in south Buckinghamshire. Henri Bernard Goetz (September 29, 1909 – August 12, 1989) was a French American surrealist painter and engraving, engraver. He is known for his artwork, as well as for inventing the carborundum printmaking process. His work is represented in more than 100 galleries worldwide. Early life Goetz was born in New York City in 1909. His father ran an power plant, electrical plant. He later described his mother as a "quasi-academic" because of the two large parenting books she owned. He began drawing because the books told that a child needs a certain number of hours outside in a day, and as such he was not allowed to come home before six. On one rainy day, he made use of his time by drawing. However, he was frustrated with his clumsy drawing, and tore it up. He later asked his mother to beat him for his failure as an artist. Roger Bissière (22 September 1886 – 2 December 1964) was a French artist. He designed stained glass windows for Metz cathedral and several other churches. Biography Roger Bissière was born 22 September 1886 in Villeréal, Lot-et-Garonne. In 1901 the family moved to Bordeaux. His mother, Elisabeth Chastaignol, died 25 April 1902. In 1904 his father, Fernand Bissière, did not allow him to enter art school. Roger then travelled to Algeria. When he returned in 1905, he enrolled at the ''école des Beaux- Arts de Bordeaux'' where he studied with Paul François Quinsac until 1909. From September 1910 he studied with Gabriel Ferrier at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He married Catherine Lucie Lotte (nicknamed ''Mousse''), 23 January 1919.
