Academy Of The Armed Forces Of Uzbekistan
The Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan () is a body for the training of highly qualified military personnel for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was originally established as an inter-service educational institution that serves the purpose of training officers for higher level leadership positions. Cadets who study at the academy are enrolled for at least 2 years. It was the first institution of its kind to be established on the militaries of Central Asia. The school requires all cadets to be fluent in the Uzbek language as well as have a basic knowledge of Russian. History It was established on 2 September 1994 in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Establishment of the Academy of Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan" of 15 August 1994. The National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan ( Uzbek: O'zbekiston Respublikasining milliy gvardiyasi) is a uniformed independent formation within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Colonel General Bakhodir Khamidovich Tashmatov is an Uzbek military leader and security official. He was born in 1964 in the Uzbek SSR. He graduated from the Tashkent Higher All-Arms Command School, the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as the Fergana State University. The Northwest Military District () is a military district of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan based in the city of Nukus. Nukus serves as the capital city of the autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan. It serves the territory of Karakalpakstan as well as the Xorazm Province. It was established in 2000. Uzbek Ground Forces
The Uzbek Ground Forces are the land component of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Operating since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the army is made up of former Soviet Army units that were in the territory of Uzbekistan. As of 2006, it had around 40,000 active personnel.
