AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, (abbreviated as ''AGH UST'') is a public university in Kraków, Poland. Founded in 1913, its inauguration took place in 1919. The university focuses on innovative technologies, its research profile also includes engineering disciplines, exact sciences, Earth sciences, and social sciences. The university is one of 10 Polish higher education institutions that has been granted the title of a research university. The university comprises, among other units, 16 faculties, a research centre – the AGH UST Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology, and other didactic centres and departments. It offers three levels of education: first-cycle, second-cycle, and third-cycle (doctoral schools). Juliusz Franciszek Leo (15 September 1861 - 21 February 1918) was a Polish politician and academic from Kraków, Poland, while the city was part of the Austrian Empire, then Austria-Hungary. Leo was a professor of economics and law at Jagiellonian University, Kraków, the city's first deputy mayor from 1901 to 1904, then mayor from 1904 for three terms until his death. Miasteczko Studenckie AGH is the student campus of AGH University of Science and Technology and an osiedle in Kraków. It lies mostly between Reymonta, Tokarskiego, Nawojki and Miechowska streets. There are 8500 accommodations, for students of AGH (5400 places), and also students of Jagiellonian University, Pedagogical University of Cracow, Cracow University of Economics, Agricultural University of Cracow and other. Rooms are occupied with 2-3 persons each. In summer, it becomes the biggest hotel center in Poland, offering 4000 accommodations.
