Absolutely Zippo
Robert Burnett, (born 1973) better known as Robert Eggplant, is an American writer, publisher, musician and activist from Pinole, California, United States. Background Robert Eggplant has been the editor and publisher of the '' Absolutely Zippo'' fanzine since 1987. The zine has documented the East Bay punk subculture from a "front-lines" point-of-view, due to Eggplant's intimate involvement with this scene. Contributors have included Aaron Cometbus, Larry Livermore, Jesse Michaels, and Billie Joe Armstrong. The zine has been compiled and released in a paperback edition entitled ''Absolutely Zippo!: Anthology Of A Fanzine 1988-1998''. Robert Eggplant was one of the founding members of the seminal East Bay punk rock band, Blatz, in which he played guitar. The band released a number of recordings on Lookout! Last Gasp (publisher)
Last Gasp is a San Francisco-based book publisher with a lowbrow art and counterculture focus. Owned and operated by Ron Turner, for most of its existence Last Gasp was a publisher, distributor, and wholesaler of underground comix and books of all types. Last Gasp was established in 1970. Although the company came onto the scene a bit later than some of the other underground publishers, Last Gasp continued publishing comix far longer most of its competitors. In addition to publishing notable original titles like ''Slow Death'', ''Wimmen's Comix'', ''Binky Brown Meets the Holy Virgin Mary'', and '' Weirdo'', it also picked up the publishing reins of important titles — such as '' Zap Comix'' and '' Young Lust'' — from rivals who had gone out of business. A free party is a party "free" from the restrictions of the legal club scene, similar to the free festival movement. It typically involves a sound system playing electronic dance music from late at night until the time when the organisers decide to go home. A free party can be composed of just one system or of many and if the party becomes a festival, it becomes a teknival. This typically means that drugs are readily available. "Longview" is the debut single by American rock band Green Day. It is the fourth track on the band's third studio album, '' Dookie'' (1994) and their first single as a band. The song was the band's first single to top the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart in the U.S. The music video for this song received heavy airplay on MTV and is largely credited for breaking Green Day into mainstream popularity. Green Day
Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay of California in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, together with bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. Operation Ivy (band)
Operation Ivy was an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California, formed in May 1987. The band was stylistically important, as one of the first bands to mix the elements of hardcore punk and ska into a new amalgam called ska punk. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN).
