Absolutego
''Absolutego'' is the debut studio album by Japanese experimental band Boris. It was released in 1996 by Fangs Anal Satan. This album shows inspiration from the Melvins and, most prominently, Earth. Excluding the Merzbow collaboration ''Sun Baked Snow Cave'', it is the only "one-long-song" Boris album that is not broken down into multiple parts. A song with the same title also appears in the album ''Dear''. In 2001 Southern Lord Records re-released this album remastered and slowed down, with an alternative cover, and relabeled as ''Absolutego+ (Special Low Frequency Version)'' in homage to '' Earth 2''. This reissue included a bonus drone track recorded in 1997; its title would be reused 4 years later for an album also called '' Dronevil'' (a trend which continued with three albums titled ''Heavy Rocks,'' one in 2002, another in 2011, and a third in 2022) as well as for the original "Dronevil" song, a ''Heavy Rocks'' (2002) outtake released on the Mangrove 2002 compilation. Boris (band)
is a Japanese band formed in 1992 in Tokyo and composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members contribute vocals. Boris has released more than twenty studio albums on various labels around the world, as well as a wide variety of live albums, compilations, EPs, singles, and collaborative albums. They have collaborated with acts such as Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino, and guitarist Michio Kurihara. ''Dear'' is the twenty-fourth studio album by Japanese experimental band Boris. Released on 14 July 2017 through Sargent House record label, it marks the band's 25th anniversary. The music video for the track "Absolutego", which shares its title with the band's 1996 debut, was also released in May 2017. ''Dear'' was originally planned as a farewell album. Nevertheless, its sessions produced three albums' worth of material: ten tracks were cut for the record and the rest were reserved for future releases. Composition With ''Dear'', Boris craft "straight-down-the-line" doom / stoner rock and "protracted" drone metal. Their sludge heritage also returns. Critical reception Upon its release, ''Dear'' received positive reviews from music critics. Southern Lord Records is an American independent record label founded by Greg Anderson in 1998. The Los Angeles-based label was initially formed "just to put out" the debut albums by Thorr's Hammer and Burning Witch. Amplifier Worship
''Amplifier Worship'' is the second album by Japanese band Boris. Excluding the "one-long-song" albums, this is one of only two Boris full-lengths to have vocals on every song (the other being 2008's ''Smile''), and the first time that Takeshi performed lead vocals for the band (although Atsuo performs lead vocals on "Huge"). "Vomitself" was written and laid down separately at Sound Square while the other four songs were recorded at Sound Crew. According to Japanese production company FoodUnited, videos were shot for "Hama" and "Kuruimizu" but were not released to the public. The Southern Lord vinyl issue features new artwork but uses the same crossfading despite the track order change and the inability to segue across sides; these issues are solved either with new crossfades (the two songs on side A) or cut offs (the rest of the sides). ''Heavy Rocks'', also known as ''Heavy Rocks 2'' or ''Heavy Rocks 2011'', is the sixteenth studio album by the Japanese experimental band Boris. The album was released on May 24, 2011, through the label Sargent House. It is the second of three Boris albums of this title, with the others being released in 2002 and 2022; all feature the band exploring hard rock and heavy metal sounds. The band repeated the album title for this release because they "seek to redefine 'heavy' music in a culmination of the band's tireless efforts over the past two decades". The album was released on the same day as ''Attention Please'', with which it shares the track "Aileron." It also shares different mixes of the songs "Jackson Head" and "Tu, La La" with ''New Album''. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand.
