Abrehot Library
Abrehot Library is a public library in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was officially opened in January 2022 in a presided over by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who initiated the project. Built at a cost of over 1.1 billion Birr, and at a size of 19,000 square meters, it is the largest library in Ethiopia. Abrehot, meaning ‘Enlightenment’, in the Amharic language, is located in front of the Ethiopian Parliament Building. The building was designed bZIAS Design International PLC construction of the 19,000-square-meter facility took almost two years. The 4-storey facility, the biggest public library in the country, is equipped with 1.5 km long shelves that are capable of holding 1.4 million books, and can accommodate more than 2,000 users at a time. The design of Abrehot is centered on three areas, making use of both outdoor and indoor learning spaces. Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa (; am, አዲስ አበባ, , new flower ; also known as , lit. "natural spring" in Oromo), is the capital and largest city of Ethiopia. It is also served as major administrative center of the Oromia Region. In the 2007 census, the city's population was estimated to be 2,739,551 inhabitants. Addis Ababa is a highly developed and important cultural, artistic, financial and administrative centre of Ethiopia. Abiy Ahmed
Abiy Ahmed Ali ( om, Abiyi Ahmed Alii; am, አብይ አሕመድ ዐሊ; born 15 August 1976) is an Ethiopian politician who has been the 4th prime minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 2 April 2018. He won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his work in ending the 20-year post-war territorial stalemate between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Abiy was the third chairman of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) that governed Ethiopia for 28 years and the first Oromo in that position. Abiy is an elected member of the Ethiopian parliament, and was a member of the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP), one of the then four coalition parties of the EPRDF, until its rule ceased in 2019 and he formed his own party, the Prosperity Party. Ethiopian Birr
The birr ( am, ብር) is the unit of currency in Ethiopia. It is subdivided into 100 ''santim''. In 1931, Emperor Haile Selassie I formally requested that the international community use the name ''Ethiopia'' (as it had already been known internally for at least 1,600 years) instead of the exonym ''Abyssinia'', and the issuing ''Bank of Abyssinia'' also became the ''Bank of Ethiopia''. Ethiopian Parliament Building
The Ethiopian Parliament building was built in the early 1930s in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Today, the large mosaics of St. George and the Dragon (Ethiopia's Patron Saint) and the two Lions of Judah on either side of him have been painted over, and the gilding that covered the winged lions on the gates has worn away. Although the Derg used the new Shengo Hall (it was the largest pre-fabricated building in the world when it was built) across the street as its parliament, the present government has moved parliament back into this older building. Albizia Gummifera
''Albizia gummifera'' is a species of legume in the family Fabaceae, native to sub-saharan Africa and Madagascar, and naturalized in Brazil. It is also known as peacock flower. It is recognisable as a very large deciduous, flat-topped tree reaching 24-27 metres in height and an attractive shape with thick branches.
