Charles Abrams
Charles Abrams (September 20, 1901 – February 22, 1970) was a Polish-born American lawyer, writer, urbanist, and housing expert who created the New York City Housing and Development Administration in the 1960s. He was one of the first to use the expression "Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor." In 1936, the US Supreme Court established, in ''New York City Housing Authority v. Muller'', the Authority's right to employ the power of eminent domain for slum-clearing purposes. The decision gave a broader meaning to the term ''public use'' and represented a victory for Abrams, the Authority's first counsel. Geoff Abrams (born May 10, 1978) is an American former tennis player. Abrams was ranked # 1 in the U.S. in the Boys 14s singles in 1992. In 1994, he finished the year ranked # 1 in doubles in the USTA Boys' 16 rankings with Michael Russell. That year he was also the Boys 16 Doubles National Champion. Elliot Abrams (born May 31, 1947), a meteorologist, is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US. Abrams has been an employee of AccuWeather since 1967 and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with both a bachelor's (in 1969) and a master's (in 1971) degree in meteorology, where he was also a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity.
