Abnaki-class Tug
The ''Abnaki''-class tug is a class of United States Navy fleet ocean tugs which began construction in November 1942. Comprising 22 oceangoing tugboats, the class was constructed in response to the needs of World War II, but members of the class served in the Korean War and Vietnam War as well. The United States Navy no longer has any ships of this class in active duty. Cherokee-class Tugboat
The ''Cherokee'' class of fleet tugboats, originally known as the ''Navajo'' class, were built for the United States Navy prior to the start of World War II. They represented a radical departure from previous ocean-going tug designs, and were far more capable of extended open ocean travel than their predecessors. This was due in large part to their length of , beam, and substantial fuel-carrying capacity. They were also the first large surface vessels in the United States Navy to be equipped with Diesel-electric drive. The first three vessels, , and , were constructed from 1938 to 1940 at the Bethlehem Staten Island division of Bethlehem Steel. ''Navajo'' and ''Seminole'' joined the Pacific fleet in 1940, and ''Cherokee'' went to the Atlantic fleet. USS Molala (ATF-106)
USS ''Molala'' (AT-106/ATF-106) was a US Navy tugboat, named after the Molala people of Oregon. She was laid down as AT‑106 on 26 July 1942, by United Engineering Co., of Alameda, California; launched 23 December 1942; sponsored by Miss Molly Fay; and commissioned 29 September 1943. Service history Following shakedown off California, ''Molala'' steamed to Hawaii, arriving at Pearl Harbor 14 December 1943. Between February and June 1944, she operated from the Marshall Islands, towing damaged ships to Pearl Harbor. During that time, she was reclassified ATF‑106, effective 15 May. USS Moctobi (ATF-105) was an ''Abnaki''-class of fleet ocean tug. She served in World War II, Vietnam, and Korea, the last two of which she received battle stars. She was scrapped in 2012. USS ''Cocopa'' (ATF-101) was an fleet ocean tug that served on active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1978, seeing action in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
