The Ablett family is one of the most prominent in Australian rules football, with many members playing in the Victorian Football League/Australian Football League. Family members FRED ABLETT – The first family member with the surname Ablett to play Australian Rules Football was Frederick (Fred) William Ablett (born in 1883), he played 56 games in the WAFL from 1906–1910. He played for North Fremantle from 1906–1908, Midland Junction in 1909, and then returned to North Fremantle in 1910. ALF WILLIAMSON – Alf Williamson was the first VFL/AFL player related to the family. He played 11 games for Carlton from 1912 to 1914, and 8 games for Melbourne in 1914. The 1912 VFL season was the 16th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured ten clubs, ran from 27 April until 28 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Essendon Football Club for the fourth time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by 14 points in the 1912 VFL Grand Final. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. Myrtleford Football Club
The Myrtleford Alpine Saints Football Netball Club, is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Myrtleford, in north east Victoria on the Ovens River. The football and netball squads play in the Ovens & Murray Football League (OMFL). Myrtleford was initiated into the Ovens District Football Association in 1895, which later became the Bright Shire Football Association in 1900. The club joined the OMFL in 1950. Myrtleford's only premiership triumph was against Wangaratta Rovers in 1970. The Saints were runners-up in 2001, 2005 and 2006. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships.
