Abkhazia National Football Team
The Abkhazia national football team is the team representing the partially recognised state of Abkhazia. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship. They competed at the first ConIFA World Football Cup in 2014, finishing 8th overall, and they hosted and won the second edition in 2016. History After a revival in 2012, Abkhazia competed internationally under the umbrella of the CONIFA. The team made their debut in the CONIFA World Cup in 2014 and won the edition that they hosted in 2016. The Football Federation of Abkhazia regulates football in Abkhazia. History The Abkhazian Football Federation was established in 1999. On 25 February 2004, it was announced that Nart (football team), Nart Vice President Gennadi Tsvinaria had won the election to succeed Vice President of Abkhazia Valery Arshba, Valeri Arshba as Chairman of the Football Federation. Sukhumi City Assembly Chairman Roman Gvinjia was elected Vice Chairman. In 2007, First Deputy Minister for Taxes and Fees (and later Interior Minister) Leonid Dzapshba became President of the Federation. In March 2012, former Dynamo Sukhum top player Jemal Gubaz was elected to succeed Dzapshba. UEFA European Championship
The UEFA European Football Championship, less formally the European Championship and informally the Euro, is the primary association football tournament organised by the Union of European Football Associations ( UEFA). The 2015 ConIFA European Football Cup was the first edition of the ConIFA European Football Cup, an international football tournament for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA organised by CONIFA. The 2020 CONIFA World Football Cup would have been the fourth edition of the CONIFA World Football Cup, an international football tournament for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA organized by CONIFA.
