Abdullah Al-Mamun Suhrawardy
Sir Abdullah al-Mamun Suhrawardy (31 May 1877 – 13 January 1935) was a Bengali Islamic scholar, barrister, and academic. He was the Tagore Law Lecturer in 1911 and involved in notable educational work. Abdullah was the first Indian to attain a PhD degree in English from Calcutta University Early life and education Suhrawardy was the eldest son of Ubaidullah Al Ubaidi Suhrawardy and was born at his Dhaka Madrasah residence in 1877. His younger brother was Lt. Col. Dr. Hassan Suhrawardy. Since primary school, he was a brilliant student, winning a number of stipends and scholarships throughout his school and college career. He graduated with honours in Arabic, English and Philosophy in 1898, obtaining a first class in his special subjects and standing the first of his year both in the B.A. and M.A. examinations of Calcutta University. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun is a Bangladeshi police officer and the current Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police since 30 September 2022. Previously he served as Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). He was made the DG of RAB in April 2020. Prior to join RAB, he was the chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Early life Al-Mamun was born on 12 January 1964 in the village of Shreehail under Sullah Upazila in Sunamganj District. Career Mamun joined Bangladesh Police as an assistant superintendent of police in 1989. Mamun was promoted to Additional IG grade-I on October 2021. During his service period he served as superintendent of Police in Nilphamari district, deputy commissioner in Dhaka Metropolitan Police and as Deputy Inspector General in Mymensingh and Dhaka Range and Police Headquarters. Abdullah Al Mamun (born 31 December 1966) is a Bangladeshi physicist who is a professor of physics at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.. Early life and education A A Mamun (son of Darbesh Ali and Rizia Ali) was born in Dhamrai Upazila, Dhaka, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) on 31 December 1966, and he passed the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate examinations, respectively, from Kushura Abbas Ali High School  (Dhamrai Upazila, Dhaka) and   Government Science College (Tejgaon Thana, Dhaka) in 1981 and 1983, respectively. Mamun Al Mahtab (August 22, 1970) is a Bangladeshi hepatologist, medical scientist, author, and columnist. With 290 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals to his credit, Mahtab is currently working as the Head, Division of Interventional Hepatology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). In 1998, he graduated from the University of London with an MSc in gastroenterology, and then in 2006, he obtained an MD in hepatology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University(BSMMU).
