Abdulai Hamid Charm
Abdulai Hamid Charm (born 20 July 1963) is a Sierra Leonean judge, who was formerly the Chief Justice of Sierra Leone until his resignation in December 2018. He is the first Chief Justice of Sierra Leone born outside of the capital Freetown since the establishment of the Supreme Court in 1960. Early life and education Abdulai Hamid Charm was born in the small rural town of Kaula, Kambia District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. Charm was born and raised to Muslim parents, and a Muslim himself. Justice Charm received a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1990 from Fourah Bay College, and a Certificate for Call to the Bar in October 1991 from the Sierra Leone Law School. In 2000 he received a Master of Laws in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria. The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone is the highest court in Sierra Leone. It has final jurisdiction in all civil, criminal, and constitutional cases within Sierra Leone, and its decisions cannot be appealed. Fourah Bay College is a public university in the neighbourhood of Mount Aureol in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Founded on 18 February 1827, it is the first western-style university built in Sub-Saharan Africa and, furthermore, the first university-level institution in Africa.
