Malay Titles
The Malay language has a complex system of styles, titles and honorifics which are used extensively in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the southern Philippines. Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and several provinces in Indonesia regularly award honorary and life titles. What follows in this article is specific to the Malaysian system. Hishammuddin bin Hussein ( Jawi: هشام الدين بن حسين; born 5 August 1961) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who served as Senior Minister of the Security Cluster and Minister of Defence from 2021 to 2022. Dato' Lee Chee Leong (; born 22 October 1957) is a Malaysian politician from the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). He served as one-term Member of Parliament (MP) of Malaysia for Kampar constituency in Perak, Malaysia from March 2008 to May 2013. Kong Cho Ha (; born 15 September 1950) is a Malaysian politician. He served as the Minister of Transport from 4 June 2010 to 5 May 2013. He was the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Lumut constituency in Perak from 29 November 1999 to 5 May 2013. Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Lajim Ukin (15 June 1955 – 29 August 2021) was a Malaysian politician. Jelaing Mersat (born 31 December 1948) was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Saratok constituency in Sarawak from 2004 until 2013, representing the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP). During his time in Parliament he served as Deputy Home Minister in the Barisan Nasional coalition government, and later as Deputy Minister for Transport. Jelaing was elected to Parliament in the 2004 election, replacing Peter Tinggom as the SPDP's Barisan Nasional candidate for the Saratok seat.
