Abdul Momin Chowdhury
Abdul Momin Chowdhury (born 22 January 1940) is a Bangladeshi historian and academic. He was the Vice-chancellor of National University, Bangladesh, National University of Bangladesh and Primeasia University, Bangladesh. He also served as the President of Bangladesh Itihas Samiti, Bangladesh History Association and Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. Early life and education Chowdhury was born to Abdul Wadud Chowdhury and Shirin Begum in 1940. He passed Matriculation from Armanitola Government High School, Dhaka in 1954 and I.A. from Dhaka College, Dhaka in 1956. He completed B.A. (Honors) and M.A. in history in 1959 and 1960 respectively from the University of Dhaka. He achieved Ph.D. from the SOAS University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 1965. Dhaka College ( bn, ঢাকা কলেজ also known as DC) is the oldest secular educational institution of Bangladesh located in Dhaka. It offers higher secondary education ( HSC). It has Honours and Masters programs as well which are affiliated to the University of Dhaka. History Dhaka College is one of Bangladesh's most important as well as earliest higher-secondary educational institutions. It was established by James Taylor Wise (civil surgeon at Dhaka) in 1835 as an English Seminary School (present Dhaka Collegiate School). Mr. Wise organized a local Committee of Public Instruction with the help of district magistrate Mr. Grant. The school building was built partly out of public donations on the grounds of an English factory. On 18 July 1841, the school got its approval from the college.
