Abdul Mannan Syed
Abdul Mannan Syed (3 August 19435 September 2010) was a Bangladeshi poet, and critic. He is known for his considerable research works on Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jibanananda Das, Farrukh Ahmad, Syed Waliullah, Manik Bandyopadhyay, Bishnu De, Samar Sen, Roquiah Sakhawat Hossain, Abdul Ghani Hazari, Muhammad Wajed Ali, Prabodh Chandra Sen. From 2002 to 2004, he had been the executive director of Nazrul Institute. Life Syed was born on 3 August 1943 at Basirhat, on the Ichamati River, in 24 Paraganas, in West Bengal of undivided India. In 1946, just before the partition of British Indian, a lethal Hindu-Muslim riot took place and forced many Muslims to leave West Bengal to settle in East Bengal, now Bangladesh. Abdul Mannan Choudhury (born 1 January 1948) is a Bangladeshi academic, educationist and freedom fighter of the liberation war 1971 of Bangladesh. As of September 2018 he is the Vice-Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh. He was formerly a professor and a selection grade professor at the University of Dhaka. Education Choudhury was born in Comilla District of Bangladesh. He completed his PhD from London, his MBA from Manchester Business School and Master of Commerce from the Dhaka University. Abdul Mannan is a Bangladeshi educator. He served as the 12th chairman of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh during 2015–2019 and the vice-chancellor of the University of Chittagong during 1996–2001. Education and career Mannan earned his master's in Management from the University of Dhaka in 1972. He completed his graduate and post-graduate studies from the University of Hawaii and the Miami University in 1978. Mannan started his career when he joined the Department of Management of the University of Chittagong as a lecturer in 1973. He conducted advanced research on international commerce in Ohio State University in 1989. In 1996, Mannan became the youngest vice-chancellor of the country when was appointed at the University of Chittagong. In 2005, Mannan took an early retirement from the University of Chittagong. Abdul Manan bin Ismail (28 June 1948 – 12 February 2018) was a Malaysian politician. He was the Member of Parliament for the Paya Besar constituency in Pahang. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) major component party in the previous governing Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
