Abdala Faye
Abdala Faye (born January 1, 1971) is a Senegalese mixed media artist, and member of the Serer noble Faye family. He is the grandson of former Senegalese king, Mbaye Ndiay Djaly. Early life At the age of 12 he had his first showing in Paris, France and sold all of his paintings. From that day on, Abdala immersed himself in art and became a full-time artist. He knew that art, not government service, was his life's calling. Faye began traveling the continent of Africa and Europe at the age of 15. In Burkina Faso, Abdala learned the methods of batik (printing on cloth with wax), and mudclothe (printing on cloth with a mixture of mud and herbs). Career Abdala's art has been featured in exhibits around the world including Senegal, Brasil, France, Belgium, Germany and the United States. Faye opened Akebuland in Iowa City, IA USA. Alberto Abdala ( ar, البرتو عبد الله; 8 April 1920 – 13 January 1986) was an Uruguayan attorney, politician, painter and Vice-President from 1967 to 1972. Background Alberto Abdala was born in Maldonado, Uruguay in 1920. He was of Lebanese descent. He was a member of the Colorado Party. He served as Interior Minister and later as member of the Consejo Nacional de Gobierno. In 1966, the "Batllismo" faction of the Colorado Party didn't have a natural leader to run for the presidential elections of November of that year, after the death in 1964 of the faction's leader, former President Luis Batlle. Abdalá Jaime Bucaram Ortiz ( ; ; born 20 February 1952) is an Ecuadorian politician and lawyer who was President of Ecuador from 10 August 1996, to 6 February 1997. As President, Abdalá Bucaram was nicknamed "El Loco Que Ama" ("The Madman Who Loves", a nickname he himself championed) and was removed from office after being declared mentally unfit to rule by the National Congress of Ecuador on 12 February 1997.
