Abby Gwen Ershow is an American nutritionist specialized in iodine nutrition, lipid metabolism, atherogenesis, and cardiovascular nutrition. She was a health science administrator at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute from 1982 to 1989 and a senior nutrition scientist at the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements from 2014 to 2021. Life Ershow completed a B.A. degree in biological sciences (physiology) from Cornell University in 1973. She earned a Sc.D. degree in nutrition, physiology and biostatistics from Harvard T.H. Abby Kelley Foster (January 15, 1811 – January 14, 1887) was an American Abolitionism in the United States, abolitionist and radical social Reform movement#United States reform movements of the 1840s – 1930s, reformer active from the 1830s to 1870s. She became a fundraiser, lecturer and committee organizer for the influential American Anti-Slavery Society, where she worked closely with William Lloyd Garrison and other radicals. She married fellow abolitionist and lecturer Stephen Symonds Foster, and they both worked for Women's rights, equal rights for women and for Africans enslaved in the Americas. Abbie Huston Evans (20 December 1881 – October 1983) was an American poet and teacher. Life Her father, Bard Lewis Darenydd Evans, immigrated to the United States from Wales. He labored as a coal miner, until he was accepted for college. He studied two years at Western Reserve University, and graduated from Bangor Theological Seminary. Abbie Evans was born in Lee, New Hampshire, and graduated from Radcliffe College with a B.A. (1913, Phi Beta Kappa) and M.A. (1918), where she studied with Odell Shepard. She went to France during World War I, then came home to work as a social worker to coal miners in Colorado and Pittsburgh. She later taught at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia from 1923 to 1953. She lived at 414 Queen Street in Philadelphia. Abby Fisher Leavitt (1836 – May 23, 1897) was an American social reformer and one of the prominent figures of the Ohio Women's Crusade. Leavitt also served as Secretary of the Baptist Women's Foreign Missionary Society of Ohio and Treasurer of the Women's Crusade Temperance Union. She was the leader of the "Praying Band", who, in the spring of 1874, daily marched down to the esplanade of Cincinnati, visiting saloons, and holding meetings inside or outside of liquor saloons, and on one occasion, was arrested and temporarily imprisoned for her temerity. Abigail Golda Hoffman, (born February 11, 1947) is a Canadian former track and field athlete. Hockey Hoffman is Jewish, and was born in Toronto. She learned to skate when she was three. In the mid-1950s when she was nine, she wanted to play hockey but there weren't any existing leagues specifically for girls in the Toronto area. As a result her parents registered her in the local boy's league as "Ab Hoffman". Due to her age and the fact that Aby sported a short hair cut, she was not easy to distinguish from the boys. When it was discovered she was a girl, she was no longer allowed to play despite the fact that she had not yet reached the age of puberty.
