Abandoned Love
"Abandoned Love" is a song written by Bob Dylan, recorded on July 31, 1975, but not released until 1985, on his compilation album '' Biograph''. It was originally recorded for inclusion on his 1976 album '' Desire'', but was dropped in favor of "Joey". "Abandoned Love" was written during Dylan's breakup with his then-wife Sara Lownds. A working title for the song was "Sara Part II Abandoned Love." It was also known at one point as "Saint John the Evangelist", after a line in the song lyrics. Only one live performance of this song is known of, at The Bitter End cafe on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village on July 3, 1975, during a show with Ramblin' Jack Elliott. Paul Cable, in his book ''Bob Dylan: His Unreleased Recordings'' (New York: Schirmer Books, 1980), described this live version of the song as "Beautiful, eerie, easily as good as '' Blonde on Blonde'' lyrics and a tune that is unusual and perfect". Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. David Rawlings
David Todd Rawlings (born December 31, 1969) is an American guitarist, singer, and record producer. He is known for his partnership with singer and songwriter Gillian Welch. He and Welch were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 91st Academy Awards for "When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings" from ''The Ballad of Buster Scruggs''. In 2020, Welch and Rawlings released '' All the Good Times (Are Past & Gone)'', which won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. Gillian Welch
Gillian Howard Welch (; born October 2, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter. She performs with her musical partner, guitarist David Rawlings. Their sparse and dark musical style, which combines elements of Appalachian music, bluegrass, country and Americana, is described by ''The New Yorker'' as "at once innovative and obliquely reminiscent of past rural forms." Willie Nile (born Robert Noonan; June 7, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter. In 1980, Nile released his self-titled debut album. His early career was interrupted by various problems, but he eventually returned to recording and performing in the US and Europe, establishing himself as a singer-songwriter. Charles William Prophet (born June 28, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer. A Californian, Prophet first achieved notice in the American psychedelic/desert rock group Green on Red, with whom he toured and recorded in the 1980s. The Everly Brothers were an American rock duo, known for steel-string acoustic guitar playing and close harmony singing.
