Abalone Dots
Abalone Dots is an all-female Swedish bluegrass and country musical group. Three of the group's members met in Västervik in 2000 forming the group "Avalanche" with a repertoire of bluegrass music. The group changed it to Abalone Dots when they discovered existence of another group called Avalanche. The original trio was expanded in 2003 to include a new member becoming a quartet and travelled to Tanzania to take part in Music Crossroads Festival in Dar es Salaam. followed by various bluegrass festivals in the United States. Their appearance in summer of 2005 at the bluegrass festival in Torsåker in Gästrikland gave them wider exposure as Sveriges Television recorded a documentary on the event. After their appearance on national TV, the group was signed to Sony BMG with a brand the band called "softgrass" and in 2007, joined Lars Winnerbäcks in a tour. Västervik is a city status in Sweden, city and the seat of Västervik Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden, with 36,747 inhabitants in 2021. Melodifestivalen 2012 is a Swedish song contest that was held between 4 February and 10 March 2012. It selected the fifty-second Swedish entry to be internationally represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 (ESC 2012). As in the editions between 2009–2011, a maximum of eight people were allowed on stage, while only persons of 16 years or over are eligible. However, in accordance with Eurovision rules, only six people were allowed on stage for the Swedish entry at Eurovision. The main singer(s) were required to perform vocals live on stage. However, other backing vocals can be prerecorded, along with the song's backing track. On 20 June 2011, SVT announced an open call for Melodifestivalen 2012, with some changes in the rules. Liv-Marit Bergman (born 21 May 1975) is a Swedish pop musician. Biography Marit Bergman grew up in Rättvik, Sweden, and lives in Brooklyn, New York. She was a member of the 1990s Swedish punk band Candysuck. She has also been playing and recording with other musical groups. Gästrikland () is a historical province or ''landskap'' on the eastern coast of Sweden. It borders Uppland, Västmanland, Dalarna, Hälsingland and the Gulf of Bothnia.
