Aarop
''Aarop'' is a 1974 Indian Hindi romance film, laced with crime and suspense, directed by Atma Ram, who is the brother of the legendary film maker Guru Dutt, who made intense films with powerful social themes. Atma Ram completed many of Guru Dutt's films after his mysterious suicide. The writers were Vrajendra Gaur (dialogue) and Ram Govind (screenplay). The film stars Vinod Khanna, Saira Banu and Vinod Mehra in pivotal roles and Rehman as villain. Bhupen Hazarika scored the music for lyrics penned by Maya Govind. The song "Naino mein darpan hai, darpan mein koi.." by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar is still quite popular. Atma Ram (director)
Atma Ram Padukone (1930–94) was Hindi film and TV director born in Calcutta. He was the younger brother of legendary film maker Guru Dutt. Personal life His father Shivshankar Padukone was a clerk at Burmah Shell and his mother was a teacher. He grew up with his three brothers – Guru Dutt (filmmaker), Devi Dutt (producer) and Vijay (advertising) - and his sister Lalitha Lajmi. He studied at the University of Bombay (1952). After doing some clerical work he joined the Socialist Party (1948–50).He was an active trade unionist and secretary of the Press Workers’ Union. He worked for a while in London (1958–61) directing films produced by Stuart Legg and Arthur Elton for the Shell Film Unit; also scripted documentaries for James Beveridge for India’s Shell Film Unit (1955–62). Saira Banu
Saira Banu (born 23 August 1944) is a former Indian actress who mainly worked in Hindi language films. She was one of the most popular actresses in her heyday in the Indian film industry in the 1960s and early 1970s. Career Saira Banu was the daughter of Naseem Banu, a stage and film actress. She had one brother, Sultan Ahmed (1939-2016), who was five years older than her. Banu was 16 years old in 1960 when she started work for her debut in Hindi films. She said in a programme that she had basic talent and little dancing experience. Her peers all were classically trained, which was why she was not put in the top league. Banu started taking Kathak and Bharata Natyam lessons with success, and trained herself professionally. Soon she became a dancer, and her films featured more of her dancing. Maya Govind (17 January 1940 – 6 April 2022) was an Indian lyricist who wrote songs for many Bollywood films. She has written popular songs such as "Mera Piya Ghar Aaya", " Gale Mein Laal Tai", "Maine Paayal Hai Chhankayi", " Main Khiladi Tu Anari", "Aankhon Mein Base Ho Tum" etc. She wrote lyrics in films like '' Aarop'' (1974), ''Main Khiladi Tu Anari'' (1994), '' Takkar'' (1995), '' Yaarana'' (1995), '' Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam'' (2001) etc. She has written over 800 songs. Johnny Walker (actor)
Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi (11 November 1924 – 29 July 2003), better known by his stage name Johnny Walker, was an Indian actor who acted in around 300 films. He was best known for his humorous roles in Indian films, notably being typecasted as a hapless drunkard. Early life When his father lost his job, the family moved to Mumbai. Kazi, who got a job as a Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) bus conductor, took it upon himself to entertain his passengers with his comical way of calling out bus stops, his hilarious impressions and tricks.
