Aaron H. Grout
Aaron Hinman Grout (January 18, 1879 – December 29, 1966) was an American judge and political figure who served as Secretary of State of Vermont. Early life Grout was born in Rock Island, Illinois, on January 18, 1879. He was the son of Governor of Vermont, Governor Josiah Grout and Harriet Hinman Grout. He was also the nephew of United States Representative, Congressman William W. Grout. Grout was raised in Derby, Vermont, Derby and Newport (city), Vermont, Newport, Vermont, and graduated from Derby Academy in 1896. Vermont Senate
The Vermont Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Vermont. The senate consists of 30 members. Senate districting divides the 30 members into three single-member districts, six two-member districts, three three-member districts, and one six-member district. Each senator represents at least 20,300 citizens. Senators are elected to two-year terms and there is no limit to the number of terms that a senator may serve. Derby is a town in Orleans County, Vermont, United States. The population was 4,579 at the 2020 census, making it the most populous community in Orleans County. Josiah Grout
Josiah Grout Jr. (May 28, 1841July 19, 1925) was an American lawyer and politician in the US state of Vermont. Born in the British Canadian Province of Lower Canada to Vermonter parents, he served in the American Civil War as a Union Army officer before entering the legal profession after the war. A Republican, he entered politics and was elected to both houses of the Vermont General Assembly, serving as Speaker of the Vermont House of Representatives. Grout was elected the 46th governor of Vermont and served from 1896 to 1898. Early life Grout was born in Compton in the British Canadian Province of Lower Canada.
