Aaron Craig (born 1992) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre-back for the Westmeath senior team. Mullingar
Mullingar ( ; ) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is the third most populous town in the Midland Region, with a population of 20,928 in the 2016 census. The Counties of Meath and Westmeath Act 1543 proclaimed Westmeath a county, separating it from Meath. Mullingar became the administrative centre for County Westmeath. The town was originally named ''Maelblatha'', and takes its modern name from a mill noted in the legend of Colman of Mullingar. Traditionally a market town serving the large agricultural hinterland, Mullingar remains a significant commercial location. It had a tradition of cattle trading until 2003 when its cattle market was closed for the development of a mixed commercial and residential scheme called Market Point. St Oliver Plunkett's Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. The club is solely concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in the town of Mullingar, County Westmeath, St Oliver Plunkett's Hurling Club was founded on 5 April 1976. The club has spent most of its existence operating in the lower grades, winning five Westmeath IHC between 1994 and 2016. A brief period in the Westmeath SHC saw the club lose to Castletown Geoghegan in the 2013 final. St Oliver Plunkett's defeated Ringtown by 2-21 to 0-10 to win the Westmeath SBHC title in 2023. The Westmeath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na hIarmhí) or Westmeath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Westmeath. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. 2011 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2011 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 123rd staging of the All-Ireland championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The draw for the 2011 fixtures took place on 7 October 2010. The championship began on 14 May and ended on 4 September 2011. Tipperary were the defending champions. Kilkenny secured the title with a 2-17 to 1-16 defeat of Tipperary in the All-Ireland final. This was their 33rd All-Ireland title, their eighth in twelve championship seasons. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor B Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association for the youngest competitors (under-18) in Ireland.
