Amir Carlos Damaso Vahidi Agassi (born December 12, 1979, in Makati, Philippines), popularly known as Carlos Agassi and simply Amir, is a Filipino actor, rap artist, host, and model. He was launched as a member of ABS-CBN's Star Circle (now Star Magic) Batch 3 in 1993. Career Agassi is a member of ABS-CBN's circle of homegrown talents named Star Magic. He was part of a male group dubbed as "The Hunks" together with Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo, and Bernard Palanca. During his tenure as part of The Hunks, he has been a primetime actor when he co-starred with Claudine Barretto in the hit teleserye '' Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan'' which ran from 2001 to 2003. The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards. The Aliw Awards by the Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. was established by the renowned Philippine journalist]Alice H. Reyes to recognize achievements in the live entertainment industry in the Philippines. It was founded in 1975 by the National Press Club but was then managed by the Aliw Foundation. The first awards show was held in 1977 with singer Pilita Corrales winning the Entertainer of the Year Award followed by Rico J. Puno, Rico Puno and Celeste Legaspi in 1978 and 1979, respectively.
